Outstanding Rescue Cat

Felines adopted from animal welfare organisations

Winner

Nala - Brighton, East Sussex

Nala and Alexandra
Charlotte Eades and Nala were always the best of friends but when Charlotte was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer, that friendship became more important. With Nala at her side, Charlotte fought the bravest of battles until tragically, she died aged just 19. Three years on, Nala still recognises Charlotte’s voice on her videos, and helps the family keep her memory alive. Nala is pictured here with Charlotte's mum, Alex.

Runner up

JJ - Alcester, Warwickshire

JJ and Edwina
Jj landed on his feet when he was adopted by Edwina Norris and husband Bill. Having been a shy cat, he soon blossomed into an attentive and loving pet. Then when Edwina became ill with a lymphoma cancer, Jj’s caring nature shone through. Barely leaving her side, Jj became Edwina’s constant companion and comfort through a long and painful recovery.

Runner up

Monty - East Grinstead, West Sussex

Olivia and Monty
Olivia Meheux was dealt the cruellest of blows when her partner Dave was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer. Determined to make the most of their time together, the young couple adopted Monty, whose entertaining antics provided comfort during the most difficult of times. Tragically, Dave died just a few months later surrounded by those he loved – his wife, family and Monty.
